Hi

We are thinking of having an above ground pool put into the ground; what type of filter would we use and would it also have to be underground at the same level as the bottom of the pool?

Thanks Karen

Hi Karen,

Depends what type of pool you are purchasing!? If it is a Metal framed liner pool, for example the equinox or Regatta then they come with an adequate pump and sand filter to run and cope with the size of pool.

In respect to the level of the filter it shouldn’t really matter but if it is at the same level as the pool floor you find that you shouldn’t have risk of the pump struggling to prime as gravity will do most of the work. The pumps they come with are designed to sit next to the pool. If it is below always remember to have a valve in front of the pump, so for e.g. when you change the basket you won’t have the pool water rushing out!

We don’t advise sinking above ground pools due to they are made to be above ground!! But obviously it has been done.
